Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words. — St Francis of Assisi

This quote is what this is all about. It is not an excuse to keep quiet on the Gospel.

It is an attempt to show others we love them not only by what we say, but by what we do. And it's so easy

Ok so you don't have the kind of character that can go door knocking (thank goodness) or stand on the steps at Fishergate with a plackard shouting "turn or burn".

But you do know how to boil a kettle.  You do know how to use broom or a paint brush.

Twice this week we have missed a chance to be more like Jesus......missed a chance to Serve and Worship Him.........

Mat 20 v25-28: Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

No one's asking us to be crucified.  Just to take up a cross of service.

We need volunteers.  We need each other to demonstarte God's love in practical ways.  We need to show God that we are willing to serve him in giving up a few hours every now and again.

Our coffee mornings are outreach.  They are Gods work.  They are Servant Evangelism.  Sitting and talking and drinking a brew.  You don't have to quote scipture, you don't have to be a Holy Joe, you just have to be your self.

One of our churches asked for direct help this week, and they need it again next week.  What do they want?  Well what we've proved already we can do very well.

To change an old building into a comfortable place to do Church.  We don't do servant evangelism to save people, we are trying to love them because we love Jesus. In other words we are trying to combine the great commission with the great commandment (to love God with everything and to love our neighbours as much as we love ourselves).

And here's the really easy bit... Southport Vineyard already know Jesus,  They don't need the sermon, they just need our help.

Jesus expects us to show action as well as good intentions...

Matt 25.34-40: Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me...'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Here's the Good News.  It's never too late.  There will be more coffee mornings.  There is another chance to serve Southport Vineyard next Sat'.  They need their Church ready to open for Easter Sunday, to welcome people to come and worship a risen Lord.  The same Lord as yours.  The same God at the centre of your testimony (You know the one). Read back just a bit......

Jesus expects.........

Sign up.  PLEASE! "Small deeds done with great love will change the world"

God bless and goodnight.
