What We Do At Preston Vineyard
Sunday Morning Services: As our regulars may be tired of hearing, at PV everyone is invited to contribute! The Leadership team have been looking at ways to make this even more of a reality, and for this to be reflected in our services. And so with great excitement we introduce to you the New and Improved PV Set of Services!!!
We currently run 2 services a month on the 1st and 3rd Sunday and there will generally be one of the following:
o Family Friendly Service—led by home groups, and church leaders alike involving kids and synergy (high activity!)
o Celebration—short talk, long worship & food to share!
o Teaching Service—kidzone and synergy groups. A fairly regular service.
Beyond Our Saturday Services ...
Servant Evangelism - our way of putting our money where our mouth is! Each home group has a monthly budget for outreach. The Servant Evangelism is aimed to be low risk, high involvement and lots of fun!
Synergy - our ‘youth group’ meets every second Thursday on a social/cell rotation. In the past it has included activities such as rock climbing, pizza making, creating a film re-make of a few parables and much more. It also meets during one service a month on a Saturday.
Kidzone — our kids program runs on a Saturday during our ‘traditional service’. With snacks and crafts and activity-based storytelling, it is the kind of place our children want to be! When we have no organised kidzone group we ask that parents supervise thier own children during the service - we provide toys and colouring.
Home Groups — we currently have home groups that run throughout the week. We believe that this is where real church happens, and so all regular PV folk are encouraged to link up with a home group. The groups vary in style, size and flavour and so we encourage you to choose the one that fits them the best.
24/7 Prayer — in conjunction with Christian organizations and churches around the world we take part in 24/7 prayer events. Several times now we have re-vamped the Sister Ivy Manning room in Fishergate Baptist Church and dedicated it to 24 hours of continuous prayer. Each time we organize it we invite other churches and encourage every member to participate for at least one hour. The feedback at the end of the 24 hours is always positive.
The Band — part of PV’s worship team has joined together to create an acoustic cover band which plays semi-regularly in ‘the’ student pub, the Adelphi. They cover music by artists such as Jeff Buckley, Alanis Morissette, Damien Rice, Sinead O’Connor with even an original thrown in here and there!
The Website — our website has become a hub for PV community interaction and we increasingly see it as an essential factor in community building and use the forum accordingly. Register to access more of the forums! The website is currently in the process of being updated - so watch this space!  |
